After the cancellation of the December 2019 meeting due to the horrendous bushfires around the South Coast of NSW, it was great to see so many members attend the February 2020 meeting. There was much discussion about bushfire experiences. It was also amazing to witness the strength and determination members possess to recover as well as how people are reaching out to help others less fortunate.
Show and Share photos from the meeting has been added in the Gallery page.
SCCQ Workshop Grants Program
The recipients of the SCCQ Workshop Grants have been announced for 2020. Congratulations to Dalmeny and Bungendore who each received $500 towards their upcoming Workshops. Batemans Bay Patchworkers received $300 towards their annual luncheon. However, since that luncheon is not going ahead this year due to the venue being used by the NSW Government Bushfire Recovery effort, their grant will be rolled over.
SCCQ Quilt Show
The SCCQ Quilt Show is planned for the 18-20th September 2020 at the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club with the set-up date being on the 17th September. More information will be provided shortly.
Many retailers up and down the South Coast of NSW have either been directly affected by the bushfires or indirectly due to lack of customers during their busiest time of the year.
A quick word on some of our local fabric retailers. Rosemont the Patchwork Shop in Mogo is still closed due to smoke contamination of the fabrics. They will be holding a grand re-opening on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of March. Freddie’s at Cobargo is still trading. Stephs is still trading in Moruya however is moving to Broulee. They will be closed from 7th March and are preparing an opening in Broulee 18th March at 5/40 Train Street. Patchwork at the Bay (Batemans Bay) is also still trading.
Please support your local craft stores and other retailers so hopefully we can keep them open in the future.
